What is NRC Special Verification?
As per the direction of the supreme court of India, an exhaustive verification process is required to be carried out for GP (Gaon Panchayat) Secretary/LOT Mondal/ Circle Officer Certificates submitted by married women to as a proof of linkage with the legacy person.
How Will Special Verification be carried out?
The verification is being carried out throughout a hearing based process where the married women are being called to appear. The respective officers or issuing authorities will also be present at the hearing of such certificate.
What Documents to carry the Married Womens?
The certificate holder or applicants(married women) is required to bring with the original of the certificates. If the original is not found then the photocopy of the same may be brought for hearing. She may also provide any evidence to the truthfulness of such linkage certificate. She may also bring the legacy person or other descendants of that legacy person for the recording of their particulars.
How can Women know if she needs for Hearing?
A notice will be sent to the married women to appear for the hearing which will be close to the GP (Gaon Panchayat) Secretary/LOT Mondal/ Circle Officer from where her certificate was issued. Applicants can know the time, date and venue for the hearing which will be mention in the letter of information for hearing. The notice will be sent to house by house by field level functionaries.

Some Guidelines for NRC Special Verification
No third party other than family members will be allowed for participation in the hearing.
NRC Special verification will only apply to cases where the issuing authorities of the certificates are GP Secretary in the rural areas, LOT Mondal in the districts of Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Korajhar and Circle office in the urban areas.
In case the hearing center of such certificate mentioned in the hearing is not the office from where she issued, then please contact the Nearest NRC Seva Kendra where she submitted the application form.
What if Certificate Holder fails to attend Hearing?
In case the certificate holders fail to attend for hearing then, the decision regarding the admissibility of certificate as a linkage document will be taken by the NRC Special Verification Officer who conducts the hearing in her absence. Such certificate is not accepted if submitted by any unmarried women.
